#9: CON AIR (1997)
There’s nothing wrong with loving Con Air—as a brainless action extravaganza, it’s a fun ride heightened by a great supporting cast (John Cusack, John Malkovich, Steve Buscemi). However, there is a problem with forgiving Nic Cage’s Fabio-light look and embarrassing Southern accent. The latter is what you’d expect from an Italian (Cage was born Nicholas Coppola) California native trying to speak like he’s from below the Mason-Dixon Line, but worse. We like to imagine that bar managers throughout Southern states such as Georgia and Tennessee stuck pictures of Cage’s Con Air antihero on dartboards.
