J. Cole 'KOD' Gets the Chopped Not Slopped Treatment

OG Ron C and The Chopstars breathe new life into J. Cole's latest project.

Houston’s very own OG Ron C and The Chopstars leave few iconic hip-hop projects unchopped these days. The latest to receive the chopped not slopped treatment is J. Cole’s KOD album, dubbed “Purple KOD.”

This remix of Cole’s fifth studio album allows fans to listen to a crawling version of Cole’s tracks and further appreciate the production and lyricism. KOD landed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 last month after it came out on April 20. Cole also became the first artist to debut three simultaneous singles on the Billboard Hot 100 charts with "Kevin's Heart," "ATM," and title track "KOD."

Other albums to recently get the chopped not slopped treatment include Cardi B’s debut albumInvasion of Privacy and Black Panther: The Album, the compilation put together by TDE’s Anthony 'Top Dawg' Tiffith and Kendrick Lamar. One of my personal favorites is their spin on Thundercat’s Drunk renamed Drank.

J. Cole recently announced his North American tour for KOD with Young Thug as his special guest. The 34-date tour kicks off in August and wraps in October.
