Rihanna

As we reported earlier, Rihanna put Snapchat on blast for a demonstrably tone-deaf advertisement, which made light of the singer’s assault at the hands of ex-boyfriend Chris Brown. As we’re all too well aware, the couple has a history of domestic violence, and for some reason Snapchat thought it was totally cool to capitalize on that. The platform should have known better than to cross Queen RiRi, lest they incur the wrath of her minions. Also, who exactly was Snapchat trying to target with this marketing strategy?

In a matter of minutes, Rihanna’s fans came to the singer’s defense. The Navy started deleting Snapchat from their lives and prompting others to do the same. (What we’re y’all still doing on the app after the advent of IG stories, anyway?) The blowback looks like it might be the proverbial nail in the coffin for the already hurting platform.
