Kanye West's First IG Post in 9 Months Is Valentine's Day Message for Kim Kardashian

The rapper returned to the platform with a Valentine's Day message for his wife Kim Kardashian.

Kanye West is back. On social media, that is.

After more than nine months of inactivity, the rapper returned to Instagram on Wednesday with a special Valentine’s note to his wife, Kim Kardashian. The post featured what appears to be a white card that reads: “Happy Valentines [sic] Day Babe.” Simple, straightforward, and very Kanye.

In May of 2017, 'Ye unexpectedly deleted his Instagram and Twitter accounts without any explanation. His decision to step away from social media came after a tumultuous year for the Kardashian-West family: Kim had been a victim of an armed robbery, and Kanye was hospitalized for mental health issues following a string of controversies and bizarre rants. Though some fans were disappointed to see 'Ye abandon the platforms, it seemed like a good move for his overall health.

“He wasn’t using social media that often and it wasn’t necessary for his creative process,” a source told Us Weekly in 2017. “It wasn’t a healthy outlet for him. He’s in a different place now, [and] is trying to focus on stuff that matters.”

So, can we expect to see more of Kanye on social media? We’re not sure. Shortly after he shared the Valentine's Day card, he posted a series of famous couples, including Sean Penn and Madonna, as well as Barack and Michelle Obama.

At this time, his Twitter account is still nowhere to be found. But, as we’ve seen in the past, 'Ye is always full of surprises.

Hours before Kanye’s Instagram return, Kim shared her own romantic message on the platform. The mother of three posted a photo of her and 'Ye, along with the caption: “I love you to infinity! Happy Valentine’s Day!!!”

Again, sweet and simple.
