Kaytranada channels all of our '90s kid nostalgia in the new video for his 99.9% album standout, "You're the One." The Shomi Patwary-directed visual reminds us heavily of our daily routine growing up, posted up on the couch watching a stacked lineup of sitcoms while three girls sing into their hairbrushes and order pizza as they watch Kaytranada and Syd on the television.

"Stylistically it was influenced by the look of black sitcoms from the early '90s—from Martin to Living Single and UPN sitcoms," Patwary explained in a press release. Of course, the romance weaved throughout takes its inspiration from an Eddie Murphy's iconic 1988 film. "The African prince idea derived from the plot of Coming To America."

Clearly, everyone working on this video had all the classics in mind when it came down to stylizing the whole thing, although we also get some My Brother and Me vibes from the video's title font at the beginning.

The video is only one of many things Kaytranada has accomplished in the past few months, including winning the 2016 Polaris Music Prize and releasing his anticipated new mixtape, 0.001%, which boasts previously unreleased material from Joey Bada$$, Anderson .Paak, and Nick Murphy.

The Canadian producer gave his fans one more reason to be excited earlier this week when he shared a post of him and André 3000 in the studio together. There's no official word on what the pair might've been working on yet, but it seems like Kaytranada has no intent of slowing down.
