In one of the most interesting announcements I've seen in a good minute, Monstercat has recently stepped out with a new contest of sorts called their Tastemaker Team. In essence, they are asking you, the music nerd, to submit some of your favorite music to the label to not only be considered for potential release, but also looking for new and talented folks trying to get involved in the A&R hustle. To be completely honest, my main goal from day one in the music industry was to get involved with A&R and discovering new talent. The fact that a label as big as Monstercat is openly taking submissions for this in 2014 and looking for long term connects if the relationship makes sense is EVERYTHING. I personally can point to about 10 said music nerds in my immediate radius of contacts that would be killer at this. This is a fairly open ended submission time period but according to Monstercat's PR Rep, they believe they will have a good grasp on who they'll be linking with in the next couple weeks. Well over 2000 submissions so far. So...what are you waiting for? Enter already.
