Deadline is reporting that HBO is developing an electronic music comedy series (entitled Higher), and while we have zilch in the way of actual info regarding what it could be about, the cast of characters behind the scenes is what makes this one interesting. Irvine Welsh (aka the guy that wrote Trainspotting) linked up with Calvin Harris to develop a comedy "set in the world of electronic music." We imagine something either from a DJ/producer perspective or from a raver perspective? Who knows. In any case, the project has a number of star-studded executive producers affixed to it... like Will Smith and Jay Z. Their respective production companies are listed as those behind Higher. While we won't go out on a limb and say this means that the show HAS to be a success, we have a feeling that Will Smith and Jay Z wouldn't crawl out of bed for any old run-of-the-mill dance music program for HBO... right?
