Listen to This Excellent Blood Orange Album Outtake, "West Drive (Profit Vocal Dub 2)"

It was probably always good enough.

Blood Orange's Cupid Deluxe is hands down one of the year's best albums, casually blending limber funk and smooth R&B to devastating effect. Many of its best moments come from the combination of singer Dev Hynes's voice with that of frequent collaborator and girlfriend Samantha Urbani, and this song, which didn't make the cut (but easily would on pretty much any other project), is no exception. It builds slowly, finding a few comfortable grooves along the way, and it's absolutely beautiful.

"There are literally 7 versions of this song. This is 1 of roughly a million cuts that didn't make it onto the album 'Cupid Deluxe'," Hynes wrote matter-of-factly on Soundcloud. If the other 999,999 are even half as good, the dude already has a discography most artists would kill for.
