Danny Brown is one of few "mainstream" rappers that have the ability to bridge the gap between hip-hop and EDM. His signing to Fool's Gold, an album track with grime producer Darq E Freaker, and a history working with other EDM producers place him in an incredibly unique position. He's also the owner of one of the oddest voices in rap.
I met with him at this year's Afropunk Festival in Brooklyn back in August and we talked about a wide array of subjects. We find out that his father was a house DJ, what tempo has his heart, and why he sounds so angry (my mother was curious).
Our thanks to his management for the clearance, Afro Punk for the hospitality, and Jason Ano for the last-minute video work.
