It is widely speculated that Compton MC Kendrick Lamar will be number 1 on MTV's Hottest MCs list. Well, at least Danny Brownthinks so. Out last year, Lamar's major label debut, good kid, m.A.A.d. city, proved there's still room for insightful lyricism in hip-hop. The album was about his upbringing in Compton, yet the same story could happen elsewhere.
In this interview with Rap Up TV, Lamar says the list is a good thing. "It's very important for hip-hop," he said. "We need that. It's competitive." Given his statements, it's no wonder Lamar has made such an impact. It is rap after all, and everyone should want to be the best.
