Tyler, the Creator stopped by the Hot 97 studios earlier this week for an interview and things got a little heated. After a few minutes of chatting with Cipha Sounds and Rosenberg about the state of Odd Future, taking selfies, the Grammys and his pal Frank Ocean, the discussion turned to the topic of race.

The hosts started asking if the white members of the crew ever used the n-word when Tyler shared a pretty unexpected opinion on the matter. Said Tyler,

None

Host K. Foxx, clearly not pleased with Tyler’s comments, tried to talk to the young rapper about history and respect, eventually asking what he does care about. “Being rich and trying to have as much fun as I can,” he responded. Watch the whole interview up above; the exchange in question begins around minute nine.
