Lena Horne, the legendary singer, actress, civil rights activist and dancer, became a nightclub performer before moving to Hollywood to act. She was blacklisted from acting due to the Red Scare but continued to work as a nightclub performer as well as on television. Her signature songs include "Something to Live For", "Chelsea Bridge", and "Stormy Weather," and she was given a Lifetime Achievement Award in 1989.
