If you're in need of some pure New York rap, look no further than the Queens collective World’s Fair. Earlier this month, they released the atmospheric “Jasmine Guy" to celebrate the launch of Young One Records. Their follow-up is “24KT Casket,” featuring members Cody B. Ware and Prince Samo with Bodega Bamz of TanBoys. Over some moody production, they spill some lyrical, thoughtful bars.
Based on a flip of Big L’s “’98 Freestyle” kicking off the track, chalk this one up as strictly for the NY heads. But don't just take our word for it, here's what they had to say about "24KT Casket."
"We see the eyes are on our city we know this is our time. With that in mind we did what the elder Gods did before us to ensure New York was the strongest. We united. This record was Queens and Spanish Harlem (World's Fair x TanBoyz) together for what we believe may be the 1st time in this modern day. So united we stand. For the city we love. For the youth. For the culture and most importantly for the future."
