Details remain minimal, but it appears that Chuck Brown, aka the Godfather of Go-Go, has died at the age of 75. This news arrives about a week following reports that he had been hospitalized with pneumonia.
The widely influential and legendary musician didn't just help shape the sound of Go-Go in his native Washington, D.C. He was a huge inspiration to hip-hop artists, from rappers to producers, the latter of whom sampled a slew of his material. You might recognize his biggest hit, 1979's "Bustin' Loose," as the backdrop for Nelly's 2002 smash, "Hot In Herre."
