"Why are you guys so epic tonight?” Nicki Minaj asked a crowd of nearly 30,000 fans on Friday (April 6) who packed into New York City’s Times Square hoping for a glimpse of the blond bombshell. Probably because the Roman Reloaded media blitz was on full blast, and now they were getting a free concert.

Dressed in a white shirt, black unitard, and zebra-patterned tights, Young Money’s first lady partnered with corporate sponsor Nokia to launch the Nokia Lumia 900 smartphone the same week as she launched her sophomore album. (Be clear, YMCMB is all about stacking that paper.) Nicki's incredible—if terribly brief—set included her current smash single “Starships,” her Roman Reloaded cut “Right by My Side,” and last year’s monster single “Super Bass.”

The outdoor event also featured a dazzling LED light show created by the same tech team responsible for the 2004 Will Smith blockbuster I, Robot. It was backed by a “Starships” remix performed live by DJ and producer Doorly.
