We have some pretty staggering news on the music industry as reported by the folks over at Digital Music News. Apparently 2 percent of the albums released last year attributed for 88.5 percent of the total album sales.
And this is the way it all breaks down.
- There were around 76,875 albums released in 2011 that sold at least one copy
- Those same albums moved a total of 113 million units
- 100 million of those sales came from just 2 percent (or 1,500) of the albums released last year
- That means that there were around 75,735 albums that pushed a total of 13 million units
Wow.
