UPDATED January 29 7:05 p.m. ET:

A recent report stated that Melania Trump was allegedly "blindsided" by the news of her husband's rumored extra-marital affair and subsequent cover-up scandal, according to The Hill. This latest development contradicts a previous statement from Melania's spokewoman Stephanie Grisham, who insisted the scandal was "salacious" and "fake news."  The First Lady will be making her first public appearance since news of the scandal broke at Tuesday night's State of the Union Address.

When Melania Trump decided to cancel her trip with President Trump to Davos, Switzerland for the World Economic Forum, rumors began spreading that Trump’s scandal involving porn star Stormy Daniels was causing friction in the White House. However Melania’s spokesperson, Stephanie Grisham, strongly begs to differ.

On Friday, Grisham took to Twitter, writing, “BREAKING: The laundry list of salacious & flat-out false reporting about Mrs. Trump by tabloid publications & TV shows has seeped into ‘main stream media’ reporting. She is focused on her family & role as FLOTUS - not the unrealistic scenarios being peddled daily by the fake news.”

Grisham’s message was a response to a report published by the Daily Mail earlier on Friday, which stated that Melania stayed at a hotel in D.C. for multiple nights due to the president’s scandal. Trump has not responded himself.

On Jan. 12, the Wall Street Journal published a report uncovering Trump’s latest sex scandal: one of his lawyers allegedly paid $130,000 to Daniels to stay silent about a sexual encounter she had with Trump in 2006. Even though Daniels and Trump continue to deny the claims, more details have emerged—including an interview with porn star and Daniels’ friend, Alana Evans, supporting WSJ’s claims—which makes Trump and Daniels’ purported relationship seem pretty plausible.
