It was clear weeks before the Democratic National Convention that Bernie Sanders would most likely not be securing the presidential nomination, but his supporters are reeling anew since news of the DNC email hack broke and now that Hillary Clinton is officially the nominee. To give voice, or rather, scent, to their outrage, Sanders supporters will participate in a "fart-in" at the DNC on Thursday.

NBC News reports that the fart-in was organized by Cheri Honkala, who said that protesters see the DNC as "a farce, it's a charade," she said. "They're creating the illusion of democracy in a very important historical location, Philadelphia, and we're really saddened by that." According to her Facebook page, Honkala works for the Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign and NBC reports that she was Jill Stein's Green Party vice-presidential running-mate in 2012.

In order to get the protest going both inside and outside the Wells Fargo Arena in Philadelphia, participants will get together and (seriously) eat a lot of beans, according to NBC News. When Honkala began promoting the fart-in through the Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign, NBC News reported that people from all over the country got in touch with Honkala to send cans of beans and offer support.

"We don’t have any hope anymore in any political party," Honkala told the Los Angeles Times on Monday. The fart-in is just one of several left-leaning anti-Clinton protests that were planned for the DNC. Honkala also spoke to the Los Angeles Times about participation in a march, which Jill Stein also partook in, and "Clintonville," a tent encampment set up by protesters as a way of demonstrating the resources poor people use in order to survive.

The flatulence is set to commence when Hillary Clinton takes the stage to accept her nomination on Thursday evening.

Cheri Honkala and representatives for Jill Stein and Bernie Sanders did not immediately respond to Complex's requests for comment.
