Birds of a feather, flock together. We learned as much after convicted serial child molester Larry Nassar’s boss was charged with criminal assault on Tuesday. William Strampel, the former dean of of Michigan State’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, is accused of groping and sexually harassing a female medical student. Even worse, Strampel is said to have a video of the former USA Gymnastics national team doctor doing one of his so-called “treatments” on a female patient.

Strampel's Monday arrest is part of the Michigan Attorney General’s investigation into sexual misconduct at the school. The state Attorney General office began its probe in the wake of Nassar’s trial, which saw him sentenced to 175 years in prison after being convicted of sexual misconduct with over 150 young female victims, some of them, Olympic athletes. Now, it would appear that the dean of Michigan State has found himself at the center of his own scandal, with a number alarming accusations being made against him that go as far back as the mid-2000s and as recently as February of this year.

In December of last year, Strampel resigned as dean, citing health reasons. Nassar was fired in September of the previous year. Michigan State provost, Carol Viventi wrote a letter in February, asserting that Strampel had “failed to monitor and enforce clinical practice guidelines put in place for former doctor Larry Nassar following the conclusion of a 2014 sexual harassment investigation.” The allegations being made against the dean also suggest that he was complicit in enabling Nassar's crimes. It’s also worth noting that former Michigan State President Lou Anna Simon and former Michigan State Athletic Director Mark Hollis both stepped down during the fallout from Nassar's case.
