London-based photographer Natasha Caruana dated over 54 married men in a span of just nine months in hopes of getting a better grip on what an affair looks like today, as impacted by technology, according to Dazed.

Caruana started her art project by signing up to dating sites. She eventually met in person with the men she talked to over 80 times, a task that became more emotionally exhausting as the project went on. "It was all very confusing stuff, especially towards the end, when I was meeting up to four a day!" she told Dazed.

Many of the men would meet with her and then proceed to talk about their wives for the entire time. "During the initial five dates, I found the men were mostly using me as a quasi-marriage counselor," she said. She believes the men sought her out because they were emotionally, not physically, deprived, which challenged her vision of what an affair typically looks like.

Caruana would often photograph and record the conversations, either by keeping online chats or using a voice recorder for in-person meet-ups, with the men, except in certain situations. Sometimes the man she was dating would be so uncomfortable she wouldn't take photos, other times she was having such an enjoyable time she forgot to turn on the recorder. However, she says she clearly set rules before embarking on the project. "I had a long-term boyfriend throughout the whole project, which helped me define boundaries."

You can see more of Caruana's work below and at her website. The series of married men photos are on display as part of the show "Love Is An Act" at London's Open Data Institute
