The Met Gala is one of the most exclusive "high fashion" events. Hosted by the Metropolitan Museum of Art (with help from Vogue editor and fashion icon Anna Wintour), the annual event is one of the fashion world's biggest nights out. While the event's purpose is that a fundraiser that ties into the opening of the Costume Institute's annual fashion exhibit, it's also become a red carpet spectacle in its own right, as celebrities do their best (and try really, really hard) to match that year's theme.
With 2015's theme officially set as "China: Through the Looking Glass," it already raised some questions about the problematic nature of turning a country into a theme. People assumed that there would be more than a few missteps as celebrities attempted to tastefully balance the exhibit's theme without looking objectively racist. It's not all tragedy though, some celebs came through and brought their best to this year's Met Gala. These are the Style Wins and Fails at the 2015 Met Gala.
