Kelly Osbourne has left E!’s Fashion Police.
The network confirmed on Friday that the 30-year-old will not return to the style panel after serving as its youngest co-host since 2010.
“Kelly Osbourne is departing E!’s Fashion Police to pursue other opportunities, and we would like to thank her for her many contributions to the series [...] during which time the show became a hit with viewers,” E! said in a statement.
The announcement came in the midst of major controversy, following the insensitive remarks made by co-host Giuliana Rancic.
During the Fashion Police Oscars special Monday night, Rancic set off a firestorm after she mocked Zendaya Coleman’s dreadlocks, saying her hair looked like it smelled of "weed" or "patchouli oil." The commentary resulted in heavy backlash as many considered it to be racially insensitive. And even though she didn’t make the comment, Osbourne was also a target of criticism, which pushed her to respond on Twitter:
Though Rancic has since publicly apologized for her remarks, it apparently wasn’t enough for Osbourne.
The network confirmed that Fashion Police will return as scheduled on March 30; however, no decisions have been made on Osbourne’s replacement.
