If you’ve been shopping OAMC’s new sprig/summer 2014 collection you may have noticed the Radial Lo Kevlar shoe. The hand-sewn footwear is in collaboration with shoemaker Ateliers Heschung and comes with all the fixings. One stand out detail is the Kevlar construction, but are the shoes really bullet proof?

In the first episode of its “Field Test” series, OAMC went to the shooting range to see if the shoes could withstand a semi-automatic rifle assault. They riddled the shoe with bullets using an AR-15, and the result is a definite no. This is actually a good thing, because you didn’t need to risk getting shot in the foot to find out for yourself.

OAMC will be releasing more “Field Test” videos in the near future to illustrate the types of construction and materials they use in their collections. For now, shop the collection on the Union Los Angeles website.
