Bored with his everyday grind, NYC-based photographer Romain Laurent broke out of his cycle of commercial projects by challenging himself to create an animated looped portrait each week since September. The products of his creative experiment have been compiled into a hilarious and absurd series. They were an excellent, low-pressure way for Laurent to blow off steam while still exercising his artistic muscles.
“As far as the intention of the series, it’s a way for me to explore a hybrid medium, experiment and be spontaneous while still sticking to a short weekly deadline. There isn’t a common concept between each loop, I just ‘go with the flow’ and see what comes to my mind each week,” the photographer says.
