Using images of paintings in the public domain, Doug BayneBen Baker, and Trudy Cooper created a series of animations for an Australian sketch comedy show called Elegant Gentleman's Guide to Knife Fighting. The brilliant short animations go from dark and disturbing to just plain random and silly as the wife in the American Gothic painting murders her husband with his pitchfork, Jesus Christ does crunches on the cross, and various others blow raspberries on their counterparts. For the creators, the project was about "championing the public domain" and creating new art out of the famous pieces. For us, it's pretty damn funny and we think you should check it out.
