It wouldn't be Frieze Week, or a gathering of art fairs, without a really excellent event dedicated to design. Pavilion of Art and Design in London (October 16-20, 2013) was the answer, displaying an incredible juxtaposition of furniture and interior pieces alongside works of 20th-century art (such as the Araki piece, above).
Guests sipped Ruinart champagne (at a bar and restaurant designed by Paris-based interior architect Charles Zana) and marveled at the sophisticated furnishings from contemporary design galleries worldwide. Being the 7th edition of the fair, and including a view of Berkeley Square (with the sounds of a self-playing piano by Dutch designer Maarten Baas in the background, no less), PAD nailed the range of museum quality works of modern art, design, decorative arts, tribal art, photography, and jewelry.
VisitBritain and British Airways made it possible for us to cover as much as we could during Frieze Week. Enjoy these 10 Standout Pieces From the Pavilion of Art and Design London 2013.
