On Tuesday night, the world learned of Banksy's "residency" in New York City (sort of like an outdoor art exhibition), called "Better Out Than In," which was marked by a new website and his first ever Instagram account. His first two murals went up in Chinatown (18 Allen Street near Canal Street) and on the Westside (25th Street between 10th and 11th Avenues), one with the message "Graffiti is a crime" and another with the note "This is my New York accent...normally I write like this." They've both been defaced or altered in the short amount of time they've been up.
The third piece has gone up in Midtown with a dog pissing on a fire hydrant, who has a thought bubble reading, "You complete me..." Three hours ago, Banksy also tweeted this:
We’re fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance
