Russell Brand is no stranger to controversy or public attention. The British comedian/TV presenter has made a name for himself for being raunchy, and for that time he was married to Katy Perry. However, Brand's attention-grabbing antics ended up grabbing more ire than entertainment at the British GQ Men of the Year Awards.
While accepting the Oracle Award, Brand passed on an acceptance speech, instead opting to remark on Hugo Boss' history servicing the Nazi regime during World War II. Unfortunately for the various execs and producers of the event, Brand chose to publicly attack the brand who happened to fork over approximately $390,000 to sponsor the awards show.
Brand pulled no punches while on the podium. "Any of you who know a little bit about history and fashion will know that Hugo Boss made the uniforms for the Nazis...the Nazis did have flaws, but, you know, they did look fucking fantastic, let's face it, while they were killing people on the basis of their religion and sexuality." He then imitated Hitler and feigned Nazi salute.
While Brand was obviously scolded for his remarks about the event's sponsor, Brand really ate his words when he was bounced from an after-party due to his comments.
Brand has stuck by his statements on twitter.
