Last night was the opening of Galerie Perrotin in New York City and some big names in the art world came out to show their support. KAWS, Daniel Arsham, Julia Chiang, Swizz Beatz, and Woodkid were among those spotted hanging out at the Russian Tea Room after party, but this photo of Pharrell and Jeff Koons taken the same day at an undisclosed location definitely caught our attention.
Coming off of a dope collaboration with Daniel Arsham and with another in the works with JR (with whom he stayed in the studio with well past 4 a.m. following the party), we can't help but wonder if there is something brewing between Skateboard P and Koons. We know that Pharrell is a cultural enigma and finds inspiration in just about everything, and that he has a very real passion for art and collaborative projects, but what could Pharrell x Jeff Koons look like? The artist has recently worked with Dom Perignon on a project, was spotted having a deep conversation at a party with Carmelo Anthony, and Lady Gaga announced that they will be working together on an ARTPOP project soon, so the crossover is not without precedent. We will definitely keep our eyes open for this one, though we aren't sure the art world is ready.
