This installation by Erik Kessels (once shown in Amsterdam) represents the overwhelming amount of images that we encounter on a daily basis through various screens. The artist printed out hundreds of thousands of random photos and piled them into an average sized space. Entitled 24 HRS in Photos, the photos represent the volume of photos uploaded to Flickr in one day. One side of the room is stacked to the ceiling with photos flowing down across the space creating a lasting visual (literally and metaphorically like a photo landfill).
24 HRS in Photos is a part of "A Sense of Place," a group exhibition on view at Pier 24 Photography in San Francisco until May 2014.
