We're huge fans of Nepenthes. The Japanese company behind great brands like Needles, South2West8, and Engineered Garments never ceases to push the envelope while still remaining relatively down to earth in their clothing. That's why we tapped them for an awesome editorial last year. They don't follow trends and continue to do things in their own way.
Speaking of which, yesterday they presented the Engineered Garments spring/summer 2014 collection in a super intimate way. They turned their Garment District shop into a runway and did their first ever fashion show for a small group of family, friends, and all-around homies who have supported the brand throughout the years.
The collection is certainly loud, throwing in plenty of patterns ranging from vertical stripes, bird prints, florals, and batiks. Balancing out the loudness are the simple cotton stripe and chambray fabrics that have garnered them so many dedicated fans. Although there was plenty of drape involved, don't let the photos fool you—those aren't skirts on the models. Rather, it's a combination of aprons tied around shorts and long scarves.
Although their equally ill fall collection is just hitting stores, we already can't wait for these pieces to drop next year.
