Atletico Madrid has released images of their new 2013-2014 home and away football kits created by Nike. As always, the release was accompanied by a lot of fancy terms describing Nike 'technologies' that we don't quite understand, like Nike Dri-FIT for sweating and Nike Pro Combat baselayer for wear and tear. Whatever. But we do have to say we are a fan of the new looks.

Both the home and away kit are have vibrant colors that are few shades darker than usual, a nod to the colors Atletico wore when they won the Spanish Cup and Spanish League title during the 1965-66 season. They are also 23 percent lighter in weight than previous Nike kits.

For the new home look, the club's red and white striping appear in the body of the shirt. It is accented with a white band near the cuff. Inside the neck a label contains the club's new motto: "110 Años de Leyenda 1903 – 2013 A Team for the World” in honor of the club’s 110 year anniversary. The away shirt is a yellow and black look inspired by the club's crest. It utilizes modern color blocking that we are a fan of. Yes Nike has a lot of fancy terms for the designs, but basically the new kit just plain looks good.
