The Rolex Datejust, which debuted in 1945, was the first wristwach to feature an automatically changing date on the dial, and 1956's Rolex Day-Date was the first wristwach to feature an automatically changing day and date on the dial. Not to mention they improved upon existing technology like self-winding watches.
