There have been reports of kicking and spitting.

Paris' Louvre museum closed because of pickpockets, however it wasn't the criminals that actually prompted the museum's shutdown. Louvre staff actually walked off the job to protest awful conditions the thieves have caused them. The pickpockets have organized themselves into gangs and have launched a number of aggressive attacks on tourists and staff members alike. Reports claim the thieves have been kicking and spitting. In 2001 and 2009 the Louvre closed after other staff protests about working hours.
