Music videos receive awards and other types of accolades across culture, but they've never been fully examined in an art historical sense. The Museum of Moving Image in Queens, NY has been hard at work to change this, starting with an exhibition opening on April 3, Spectacle, that includes over 300 videos, artifacts, and interactive installations reflective of the impact of music videos in contemporary culture. While the show originated in Cincinnati at the Contemporary Arts Center, this is the first museum exhibition to explore music videos from an artistic perspective.

Not limited to genre, the exhibition will have work from David Bowie and Madonna to The White StripesKanye West, and Grizzly Bear, with an added emphasis on the directors and creative teams behind them. There will also be interactive experiences from Radiohead and Björk. Stay tuned for information on the concurrent panels, screenings, and workshops for Spectacle
