American artists like painting enormous slogans. At least, that's what It's Nice That reminds us when introducing Terrence Payne. Working in oil pastel, Payne incorporates poignant words and deft typography into patterned canvases. The Minneapolis-based painter follows some of the traditions set forth by Ed Ruscha and Wayne White, but does so with his own unique twist on wordplay. Stunning stuff.
