FAILE, a semi-mysterious street art duo from Brooklyn, have built an international following through bold print, graphic design, and painting projects. Their latest endeavor takes things a step further —creating a full scale temporary temple on Lisbon's Praça de Restauradores. Part of the larger Portugal Arte 10 festival, the temple allowed FAILE a unique opportunity to fully flesh out prevailing themes of consumerism, globalization, and the tension between academic and profane art.
FAILE Temple chronicles the project in full, offering fascinating behind the scenes stories and images of the installations construction. Essays are provided by W. Ian Bourland. The book is available from Gestalten.
