Sculptor Yutaka Sone painstaking carved a single piece of marble to produce "Island", a miniature model of Manhattan. The remarkable work of art was an undertaking of 2 years. The artist employed photographs, Google earth, and even a few helicoptor rides to make sure it all looks perfect. Amazing. And, on view from September 20, 2011 at David Zwirner Gallery (525 West 19th Street, New York, New York) through to October 29, 2011.
