Amidst a 2018 NBA free agent class that includes superstars like LeBron James and Paul George, people forget that Kevin Durant can opt out of his deal this summer and test the market. If Durant were to opt out, he would certainly just re-sign with the Golden State Warriors, right?
While speaking with Anthony Slater of The Athletic, Durant jokingly said that his decision will depend on who wins the championship.
Durant is well aware of the comments made about him following his decision to join the Warriors, who were coming off back-to-back Finals appearances and a 73-win season. KD even made light of the memes created from his “My Next Chapter” article in the Players’ Tribune after he was selected by Team LeBron at this year’s All-Star Game.
At this point, it's a foregone conclusion that if Durant does opt out, he will re-up with the Warriors. Can you blame him? KD is in an amazing situation with three of the NBA's best players in a perennial Finals favorite.
