Ben Simmons, the No. 1 pick in this year’s NBA Draft, has a fracture in his right foot. Simmons rolled his ankle during the 76ers’ final scrimmage of training camp at Stockton University in New Jersey.

Sixers statement says Simmons fractured the fifth metatarsal bone. No timetable given.

The American Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Society states, depending on the severity, Simmons could recover without surgery in 6-8 weeks, or he could need surgery and face a longer recovery time. The NBA regular season tips off Oct. 25, so Simmons will almost definitely miss some action.

Poor Sixers fans. The Philadelphia fan base, which is all too familiar with foot injuries (see: Joel Embiid), is preemptively panicking.

TIME TO DRINK. https://t.co/VpdKBBPG5i
drinking Henny and staring at my foot wondering if i can afford to donate a metatarsal. #sixers
@BobCooney76 Tfw when the light wanes and the darkness overcomes all that is good.
@BobCooney76 that philly curse is real.
@BobCooney76 I hate everything
@BobCooney76 @DerekBodnerNBA Why do we catch all the breaks?

When Simmons does get back, the Sixers should be an interesting young League Pass team this year. Let’s hope he’s back soon.
