Ayesha Curry is trending on Twitter. Again. And if you’re wondering, “Why now?” you’re not alone. When we first realized that she was working her way up the trending topics list today, we assumed that she must have said something on social media to jumpstart things. But when we checked her Twitter feed, this was the last thing she had posted:

Controversial? Uh, no. Maybe she posted something crazy on Instagram?

Nope, nothing there.

Hmmm…maybe she said something wild in a new interview? *checks Google News* Nah. There are a bunch of news stories about Ayesha responding to Lakers fans after the Warriors’ loss on Sunday, but surely that didn’t send her soaring to the top of the trending topics list above names like George Martin and Amber Rose, right? No, it didn’t. OK, so what did?

Well, as it turns out, Ayesha is trending on Twitter as a result of a video that Twitter user @_GodThrilla posted earlier today. The short, dramatic clip is four months old according to the Warriors social media coordinator and features Ayesha throwing confetti on Steph after a game (contrary to popular belief, the video was not shot on Sunday after the Warriors’ loss). And along with the video, @_GodThrilla included the caption, “This is all a ***** need after a long day.” You can watch it here:

Since the video went up on Twitter, it has been retweeted and liked more than 700 times. It has also sparked ridiculous reactions from, well, everyone. The initial reaction from many Twitter users was some variation of “I need me an Ayesha Curry”:

But once those tweets hit, there was another wave of Twitter users who responded to the initial commenters:

And from there, Twitter did what Twitter does best and turned an otherwise innocent video of Ayesha throwing confetti on Steph into World War 3. There have been Ayesha vs. Kim Kardashian arguments breaking out all over the place, debates over Ayesha’s recent comments about the way women wear clothes, and more hot takes than we can even count. If it wasn't clear already, it's pretty obvious that, for whatever reason, Ayesha touches a nerve when it comes to Twitter.

Fortunately for her, she’s choosing to use it to her advantage. A short time ago, she responded to her sudden spike in popularity on Twitter, but she didn’t respond in the way you might think. Rather than addressing the “controversy” she caused, she took the time to promote her new cookbook:

And when Chrissy Teigen chimed in after she saw what was happening on Twitter, Ayesha told her that she doesn’t even know what to say:

We're not sure what to say here, either. Other than: Can someone please make it stop?

Sigh.
