Before last night's extremely entertaining finale to the college football season kicked off and Alabama won its fourth national title in seven years, Ciara caused a stir on social media for two prominent reasons.

The singer, and Russell Wilson's celibate girlfriend, belted out a flawless "The Star Spangled Banner," but drew the ire of two high-profile members of the media because, in their opinion, she was showing way too much cleavage for a national audience.

I'm 100 percent serious. I'm not a prude. Love nudity. Not at national champ game. Inappropriate. https://t.co/LoTzEqBQQJ
Dear Ciara. You're stunning. But this is a National Championship Game. Kids are watching. Cover up.

Predictably, the reaction was swift and hilarious as followers and trolls mocked Whitlock and Bernstein for their prudish views while America watched unpaid "student-athletes" make coaches, administrators, universities, and networks millions and millions of dollars while they risked injury and potential brain damage for fleeting glory. Ah, amateurism.

Also, let's not forget we were one day removed from the Golden Globes that were watched by millions and featured actresses and performers wearing similarly revealing dresses, but you know how that goes. Here are some of the better reactions:

@BonnieBernstein but the cheerleaders & majorettes have less clothing on than Ciara 🤔
@BonnieBernstein ummm...but kids, when you go to the beach this summer, cover your eyes. There are bikinis there...
.@BonnieBernstein Will you be telling the cheerleaders the same thing, or pic.twitter.com/3dNDlusTI2
@WhitlockJason @jasonrmcintyre what's the more egregious wardrobe choice? @sportspickle pic.twitter.com/hQxAOVJLUd
@WhitlockJason nudity? Lol! You can't be serious. I don't believe you. I think you wanted publicity. Or you need a dictionary.

Future, unfortunately, had no comment on the matter, as he was doing his thing over in England yesterday.
