They're supposed to be helmet slaps, not helmet haymakers.

Occasionally, I'll see a player make a great, clutch or lucky play in a football game and wonder if it's wise for the player's teammates and/or coaches to slap them upside the head as a form of congratulations. It just seems like it only takes one overzealous person to do some real damage.

Today, that overzealous person was Georgia inside linebackers coach Mike Ekeler and poor recipient was Bulldogs defensive back Rico McGraw. An overjoyed Ekeler was skipping down the sidelines when he passed by McGraw, smacking him hard on the helmet.

Rico was immediately shaken up by the "congratulatory" gesture. Luckily, McGraw was able to come back into the game.

Coach Ekeler... chill out, fam! There's a player's brain encased in that helmet!
