Brock Lesnar made a huge impact on the world of professional wrestling when he made his WWE debut back in 2002. He earned the nickname "The Next Big Thing" in May, won the King of the Ring tournament in June, and was the WWE Champion in August. He moved up the ranks quickly. But believe it or not, he almost made an even bigger impact than that.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the WWE seriously considered introducing Lesnar as a gay babyface character when he debuted. The idea reportedly came about after two WWE magazine writers pitched the idea to Stephanie McMahon. Their pitch involved Lesnar taking on the role of an "unstoppable hyper-masculine ass kicker revealing himself to be gay" and called for him to beat up heel characters who used his sexuality against him. It would have been…something.

The problem with the idea, of course, is that while it sounds like it could have potentially been great, there's also a chance that the WWE would have botched it and portrayed Lesnar in the wrong kind of light. So according to WON, several "older agents" nixed the angle, and the organization went with "The Next Big Thing" angle instead.

It obviously worked out for everyone. But do you think they made the right call?
