Falcons Linebacker Prince Shembo Allegedly Killed His Girlfriend's Dog (Update)

Falcons linebacker Prince Shembo is currently preparing for his second season in the NFL. But according to reports out of Atlanta, he's also preparing to face a very serious legal battle because of something that he allegedly did to his girlfriend's dog recently.

Police in Gwinnett, Ga. have filed animal cruelty charges against the former fourth-round pick out of Notre Dame. They believe he kicked and killed a dog belonging to his girlfriend last month. Very few details about the alleged incident have been released. But Shembo will be facing at least one felony charge because of what happened.

The Falcons have released Shembo.

“We are aware of the charges that have been filed against Prince Shembo,” the Falcons said in a statement released this afternoon. “We are extremely disappointed that one of our players is involved in something like this. Accordingly, we have decided to waive Prince Shembo.”
