Dean Smith Left Each of His Former Players $200 for "Dinner on Him" in His Will

His players are getting paid.

The NCAA Tournament (thankfully) resumes today. UNC is scheduled to play 1-seed Wisconsin tonight, and at some point during the telecast—whether it's during the UNC game or another tournament stop—some college basketball analyst somewhere will bring up the fact that colleges and the NCAA don't pay their players a dime despite billions in revenue earned off their dunks and jump shots. Outside of what actually happens on the court, that's the No. 1 talking point across the board in college sports. Pay the players, we demand.

Legendary UNC head coach Dean Smith is finally paying his players, but from beyond the grave. Smith passed away last month at the age of 83, and within his trust, he willed for each one of his former players to receive a bit of the action. Check out the letter that Dante Calabria, a UNC guard who played for Smith from 1992-1996, received from Smith's trust.

Classy from Coach Smith. Now all of his players can afford to take their significant other out on one of those infamous "$200 dates."
