Former SMU and New England Patriots running back Craig James will stop at nothing to meddle in the lives of others. James, a staunch believer in not allowing gay people room to live their lives as they please, spoke to the "Washington Watch" radio program. The show, hosted by Tony Perkins of the anti-gay Family Research Council, had their fellow bigot on-air to discuss the Patriots' recent decision to include their name alongside 378 other companies (including two MLB teams) in a pro-gay marriage brief submitted to the Supreme Court.

In the above audio, posted by Right Wing Watch, you can hear James question whether or not NFL teams would tell their players to keep quiet about any religious-based anti-gay feelings. "We wouldn't have been quiet for a moment, we would have spoken up," said James, who claims that himself, along with other "believers" in NFL locker rooms he's been a part of, wouldn't have stood for the acceptance of gay men on the team. Then came the kicker:

Perkins: Do you think there are going to be more players that say, "Hey wait a minute, that's fine if they want to do that and live that lifestyle, but for me, as a follower of Jesus Christ, I have an obligation to speak out, in a loving way, but to speak the truth nonetheless?"

James: I have to say that ... the thought of me filing something in the Supreme Court on behalf of players, I had pause. I'll run through a wall with you guys [but] ...  if I were a current player in that locker room and my livelihood depended on me being quiet or losing it because of my belief system, I worry, I wonder. So, that’s Satan working on us.

Unfortunately, James can't tell the difference between morality lining up with legality and the straight-up work of Satan. James and Perkins would end their talk by agreeing that if you support gay marriage, you "have a problem with God." Lovely.

James, a former ESPN college football announcer, was fired from FOX Sports in fall 2013 after human resources finally got wind of just how vehemently anti-gay he is.  “We just asked ourselves how Craig’s statements would play in our human resources department. He couldn’t say those things here," a Fox Sports spokesman said at the time.

For James, the remaining places where he can say "those things" and receive a pat on the back is dwindling. His Patriots would certainly say as much, even if their pro-gay marriage stance is rooted in business, not necessarily right versus wrong.
