Last night, Penn State defeated Virginia Tech 61-58, and though that’s a close score, the only real takeaway from last night’s early-season contest is the brain fart that befell Virginia Tech, and much of the rest of the arena, with just under three minutes remaining in the first half.
What had happened was, Penn State’s Peyton Banks misses the first of his tw…oh, wait, while all of Virginia Tech, most of the Penn State players, and even the ESPN announcers thought Banks had two shots, this was only a 1-and-1.
One player who did have his head in the game was State’s Shep Garner, who scored the most gimme bucket of his career.
This is definitely not one to look back on for motivation later in the season.
