After Ricky Williams won the Heisman Trophy back in 1998, he decided to enter the 1999 NFL Draft. In his mind, it was the only option that he had. He was good at football, so football was his future.

But during an interview with the NFL Network this week, the former NFL star admitted that, if he could go back in time, he would take his name out of the draft and go off and do something else with his life.

"Don't do it, do something else," he said, when asked what he would tell his younger self if he could. "I [would] do something else. Because of the career, I had at Texas, I had so many doors open to me to finish up school and pretty much go anywhere in the world and do whatever I wanted to do."

Williams also went on to say that he doesn't think he was built for the NFL, even though he was the league's leading rusher in 2002.

"Some people are built for the NFL and some people aren't," he said, "and I don't think I was a person who was really built for success in the NFL."

Williams will be featured on tonight's episode of A Football Life on NFL Network.
