Paul Pierce "Can't Stand" Any of the Stars in the Eastern Conference

The Truth is the last of a dying breed.

Paul Pierce is the last of a dying breed. While most of today's NBA stars want to be friends with one another and pal around off the court, The Truth has absolutely no interest in becoming BFFs with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, or any of the other stars in the league's Eastern Conference. The Wizards guard appeared on ESPN's Mike & Mike in the Morning today and admitted that he "can't stand" any of them and wants "to beat all of them" this season.

"This is a different era," he said. "Guys are playing a lot more together in the summer. You see more friendships in the league. It's not like in the '80s when you had enemies, or you just couldn't stand this guy, and there were fights all the time. These guys, they get along. It's a new generation. They all want to play with each other, they all want to win. They're in USA Basketball all summer, they play in the summer leagues all summer, so they get to know one another and they try to join one another and try to win a championship. It's a new era that we're seeing and this is the way it's going to be, guys. We've just gotta accept it."

Now it is worth noting that, once upon a time, Pierce joined forces with fellow stars Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen on the Celtics in order to win a championship. So he can't really say that he doesn't have anything in common with today's younger players. But his attitude towards LeBron, D-Wade, and others should make the Eastern Conference Playoffs fun this season. And we'd love to see him and LeBron go at it in a playoff series one last time, just for old time's sake.
